Taxpayer relief available for businesses affected by power outages due to severe weather conditions in Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada

The Government of Canada wants to remind businesses that the CRA taxpayer relief provisions are available to those that have been unable to meet their tax obligations because of the recent power outages in Quebec, Ontario and Atlantic Canada. Taxpayer relief, which can result in interest and/or penalties being waived or cancelled, is generally available when a taxpayer is unable to file returns or make tax payments on time because of circumstances beyond their control, such as in the case of a natural disaster.
