Customs & International Trade
Our Customs & International Trade group provides strategic trade and customs advice to a wide variety of national and multinational clients.
Our work includes providing pre-importation advice on areas such as valuation, tariff classification, NAFTA, export and import permits and other non-tariff barriers. We also have substantial experience helping clients proactively address trade compliance issues and effectively manage customs audits. A significant portion of our practice involves representing clients in relation to ascertained forfeitures, customs seizures and AMPs penalty matters.
Our lawyers frequently appear before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal and the Federal Court of Appeal on a wide range of customs issues including valuation, tariff classification and the application of NAFTA Rules of Origin.
Our trade dispute team is a highly effective mix of lawyers and accountants which enables us to offer seamless service that includes both the quantitative and qualitative analysis required in an anti-dumping action. We provide a full spectrum of assistance starting at the inception of a trade dispute, and the completion of the first normal value questionnaire, through to representation before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal.
