CRA Launches New SR&ED Tool and Service

The Canada Revenue Agency has announced the launch of the Self-Assessment Learning Tool (SALT) and the First-Time Claimant Advisory Service (FTCAS) in order to assist potential claimants understand the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program. SALT is an online tool which, through specific questions, answers, and examples, is designed to assist business owners understand the SR&ED program’s eligibility requirements and provide practical guidance. FTCAS is a free, in-person service allowing first-time SR&ED claimants to meet with local CRA staff in order to discuss the SR&ED program and its applicability to the claimant’s business.
