
Susan is an associate at Thorsteinssons’ Vancouver office.
Susan’s practice focuses primarily on domestic corporate tax advice and planning for individuals, trusts and private corporations. Prior to pursing a career in law, Susan worked as a personal banker in banking and financial services industry for over 10 years and brings a unique business perspective to her legal practice.
Susan moved to Canada from the Caribbean in 2015 and obtained her Juris Doctor Degree at the University of New Brunswick. She Articled with the Chief Justice of the New Brunswick Court of Appeal and joined a regional Business Law Firm in Atlantic Canada, where she practiced corporate and tax law for 6 years until 2024 when she joined Thorsteinssons.
She regularly speaks at the Canadian Tax Foundation (CTF) Atlantic Tax Conferences and is a frequent contributor to Taxnet Pro™ Tax Hyperion Newsletter. Susan completed the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) In-Depth Tax Course in 2022, and the CPA In-Depth Corporate Reorganization Course in 2023.
She represented Nova Scotia on the National Board of Directors of the Canadian Bar Association (“CBA”) and served as chair of the CBA National Policy Committee. She currently serves as a member of the CBA National Policy Committee, is a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and the Law Society of British Columbia.
Susan is a passionate Formula 1 enthusiast who follows the sport with great excitement and dedication. For Susan, Formula 1 is not just a sport, but a thrilling and captivating world that she eagerly immerses herself in. She loves the high-speed action, the technical prowess of the teams and drivers, and of course, the adrenaline rush that comes with each Formula 1 race. When she is not in the office, you will find her attending or watching a Formula 1 race, honing her painting skills, on a flight to an exciting new (sometimes-old) destination, or busy exploring her newfound interest in plants and indoor gardening.
