Kyle is a partner in the Toronto office of Thorsteinssons LLP, Canada’s largest firm practicing exclusively in tax law.
Kyle is a private client lawyer whose practice focuses on Canadian tax planning for high net worth families, owner-managed businesses, and the trusts and structures that support them, with a particular emphasis on cross-border issues and professionals. He advises on all aspects of domestic and international tax law, including corporate structuring and reorganizations, private wealth and estate planning, business succession planning, immigration and emigration, and purchase and sale transactions.
Kyle has been recognized by Best Lawyers for his expertise in Tax Law since 2023, and is a Lexpert Ranked Lawyer (Corporate Tax) for 2026. He was previously listed in the 2021, 2022 and 2025 Lexpert Directory as a Leading Lawyer to Watch (Corporate Tax).
Kyle takes pride in providing practical, tax-efficient solutions and communicating them in a clear, straightforward manner. He frequently collaborates with clients’ existing advisors to deliver integrated plans that meet the client’s unique needs and priorities.
Kyle is a frequent speaker and author on tax topics for the Canadian Tax Foundation, Law Society of Ontario, Ontario Bar Association, Chartered Professional Accountants Ontario, Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and other organizations. He is a former member of the Program Committee for the Ontario Tax Conference and the CTF Toronto Young Practitioners Steering Committee. Kyle holds the TEP designation as a Full Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and has completed the STEP Canada Diploma in Trusts and Estates.
Before joining Thorsteinssons, Kyle practiced with the tax group of a large national law firm and was a clerk at the Federal Court of Canada.
