Paul Gibney received his B.Comm. from the University of British Columbia and his LL.B. from the University of Toronto. He was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 1991 and the Ontario Bar in 1994.
Paul served as Policy Advisor to the Minister of National Revenue in Ottawa in 1996 and 1997. In that capacity, Paul developed significant contacts within the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). He is a former member of the Toronto Centre TSO CRA & Professional Consultation Group. He is also a former member of the CRA’s Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) Advisory Committee, its International Tax Advisory Committee and its SR&ED Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee. Paul is also a former advisor to the Auditor General on the SR&ED Program and the CATA Alliance Software Sectoral Working Group.
Paul has spoken at a large number of conferences on tax matters including the Canadian Tax Foundation Annual Tax Conference, the Corporate Management Tax Conference, the STEP annual Conference and conferences presented by the Ontario Bar Association, the Strategy Institute, the Canadian Institute, the Osgoode Hall Law School Professional Development Programme, CCH and Infonex. Paul has also served as an instructor for the Bar Admission course of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the CBA Tax Law for Lawyers Annual CLE and the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Paul’s practice is restricted to income tax matters including corporate tax, international tax, estate planning and taxpayer representation and litigation.
